That cellar stands today and serves as both a literal and figurative link to the past and Laurent's guiding principles of quality and values. In 1978, Bruce Markham, a California businessman with a passion for wine, purchased the old winery and launched Markham Vineyards, the parent of Glass Mountain Wines.

From the beginning, Bruce Markham's vision was to make quality wines, while contributing to the preservation and growth of the wine industry. As a result, the Markham Winery has developed a reputation of high regard as a producer of world-class wines. Commitment to producing exceptional wines has earned Markham the cover of Wine Spectator magazine and a steady stream of accolades from the press.

Value has always been the focus of Markham Vineyards. In 1994, they seized the opportunity to produce a line of quality wines at very accessible prices. Going back to their roots and underscoring their commitment to Laurent's heritage of craftsmanship, they selected the name Glass Mountain.

Glass Mountain wines start with the grapes from top vineyards across California. The winemakers at Markham then craft these wines, applying many of the same techniques used in making Markham's award-winning Napa Valley wines. As a result, Glass Mountain wines have received widespread recognition of their own for outstanding quality and value.
